HOW SHOULD A MOTORCYCLE RACE SUIT FIT?

Motorcycle leather race suits come in several designs and different fittings. More than the budget, riders must focus on the quality and protective features of the race suit. After that, the purpose, either you are going to use it on the race track or all-day track and street ride. Both the sports are all to gather different and demand the other type of leather suits.

PROFESSIONAL RACE SUITS FOR ON-TRACK RACE

Let's first discuss the fitment of race suits for race track use. Professional racers or race track riders mostly prefer snug fitted race suits with maximum protection features and comfort features, including leather, stitching technique, internal and external armors. Custom-sized race suits provide excellent sung fitting; they are just like your second skin and don't let internal armor slide away and respond as a perfect defense against any unfortunate event.

Secondly, race tracksuits should be pre-curved in design; the sleeves and legs are pre-curved in the riding position. Pre-curve design offers excellent grip on the motorcycle and also keeps the rider relaxed in the riding position. Pre-curved race suit ensures the smooth flow of the blood that helps riders to be focused and active.

Lastly, prefer the race tracksuit with a large portion of the accordion leather panel at the back and knee. The stretchable fabric inside of arms and crotch areas. Both accordion leather and stretch fabric are essential to comfort features for relaxed fitting and give extended mobility. We recommend race suits with Schoeller®-Keprotec stretch fabric, the technical material known for excellent abrasion resistance.

RACE SUIT FOR STREET RIDING AND ROAD RACING

On the other hand, all-day street riding or road racing, suits should be a bit relaxed in the fitting. Road racing Riders need to wear leather suits for a more extended period. If the Leather suit is tight in fitting, it will cause discomfort and trouble in blood circulation, tiredness, irritation in crucial areas and could not be worn for all day.

And if the suit is too loose in fitting, riders have to carry the extra weight with them. There are greater chances that the internal protection could slide away in any event of a crash and could cause serious injuries, most probably on the knees, elbow, thighs, and back. Placement and effectiveness of the internal protection system are equally important in both track race and street riding. In any way, Race suit internal protection must not be slid away.

SUMMARY

Custom size race suits give the best fitting as they are made per rider's body measurements, riding position and race requirements. All the professional riders from WSBK and MotoGP wear custom size suits.

Always go for a suit that is ergonomically designed for rider's comfort and equipped with certified level I or II protection. These features might add some dollars to their cost, but they will ensure your safety, and without a doubt, safety must be the rider's priority number one.
